Canadian Firearm Safety Course

The Canadian Firearms Safety Course is a federal course in safe firearms handling for non-restricted firearms (non-restricted firearms are the rifles and shotguns that you would normally use for hunting). The course teaches basic skills in the safe handling of these firearms. It is mandatory that a person who is applying for their first time firearms licence take the course. There is no challenging of the test allowed.  A student handbook for this course is not required but can be purchased from the Firearms Education Service of Ontario  1-800-731-4000 Ext 7514 or www.fseso.org/study_manuals or you can download a free electronic version from this sites link page. Mr Rudderham does not sell the books.

Normally the courses are scheduled for weekends. You will find the dates for the upcoming courses by clicking on the link above. 

Once you have looked at the available course dates and have selected a course date (which is not marked full) the next step is to register for the course date you have selected by clicking on the register button. (Note: You will lose your deposit if you do not attend class on the date you chose).

Ontario Hunter Education Course

The Ontario Hunter Education Course is a provincial course for Ontario residents who wish to get an Ontario Hunting version Outdoors Card and thereby be eligible to purchase an Ontario residents hunting licence. To be eligible to take the Ontario Hunter Education Course and test you must reside in Ontario for at least 6 months. The Ontario Hunter Education test can not be taken without first completing the course.

Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course - One Stop

The Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course - One Stop is for those persons who want to have an endorsement on their firearms licence for restricted firearms. This course for those persons who have completed the CFSC within the last 30 days and can supply proof of their successful completion of the course and results. This course covers the safe handling of restricted firearms. More information on this course and the course dates can be found on this website or by contacting Mr Rudderham at 613-346-1289. A student handbook for this course is not required but can be purchased from the Firearms Education Service of Ontario  1-800-731-4000 Ext 7514 or www.fseso.org/study_manuals or you can download a free electronic version from this sites link page. Mr Rudderham does not sell the books.

Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course - Stand Alone (Not One Stop)

The Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course-Stand Alone is run for those persons who want to have an endorsement on their firearms licence for restricted firearms or, if under 18 years old, for educational purposes. For someone over 18 there is no requirement to have taken the CFSC within the last 30 days however if the person is under 18 they must sucessfully complete the CFSC before taking this course. (Note: To get a firearms (PAL) license the person must successfuly complete a CFSC course as well.) Note also that someone under 18 is not allowed to write the CRFSC test and is only taking this course for educational purposes. They must retake this course and sucessfully complete the exam when they are over 18.
