Acceptable Identification for the Canadian Firearms Safety Course
The current list of acceptable photo ID for the student report and examination forms is as follows:
Any recognized government identification( Military, Ministry etc.)
Employee I.D. Cards with photo (Ontario Hydro, Bell Canada etc.)
Passport (any Country)
A letter from the bishop of the Mennonite community can also be accepted as identification
(A copy of the letter shall be attached to the CAFC332 form for the student)
Acceptable Identification for Minors attending the Canadian Firearms Safety Course
For students less than l6 years of age, who do not have the above identification, the following list of acceptable identification for the student report and examination forms are:
Birth Certificate and a valid School Photo ID
Birth Certificate and the Parent or Guardian acceptable government identification as per the FSESO Policy noted above.
BOTH sets of identification SHALL be entered on to the student report and examination form
Photo Identification Requirement Waiver
Where an applicant for a firearms license is seeking to have the requirement for the mandatory photo identification waived for what ever reason , religious or other wise the applicant must forward such a request in writing, and provide such documentation as the the Chief Firearms Officer deems appropriate for approval of the photo identification requirement to be waived. A copy of the CFO's letter confirming the identification requirement waiver shall be attached to the student report and examination form from the student.
Acceptable Identification for the Hunter Education Course
For students taking the Hunter Education Course and/or Test one piece of Government Issued Photo Identification as followed is required:
Drivers Licence, Canadian Citizenship card with photo, Ontario Photo Card, Canadian Permanent Resident Card, Passport (Canadian or foreign), Secure Certificate of Indian Status (Status Card), Canadian Possession and Acquisition (PAL or POL), NEXUS card and Fast/Express Card, Any photo card issued under the Ontario Photo Card Act 2008.
For students 16 years of age or older who do not possess photo ID, a letter from the bishop or church leader of their religious community along with a birth certificate or certified copy of statement of live birth is acceptable.
For students under 16 years of age who can not provide any of the photo identification listed above, the birth certificate of the student AND photo ID of the parent or guardian as identified above. If the parent does not have photo ID, a letter from the bishop or church leader of the religious community to verify the student's identity along with a birth certificate or certified copy of statement of live birth for the student is acceptable.
NOTE: To be acceptable all identification must be original, current and valid.
If you can not meet the identification requirements DO NOT REGISTER as there will be NO exceptions allowed. You will not be allowed to take the Course/ Exam and your deposit will be lost.
